Graduate Students

We always want to hear from students interested in our research. Graduate students usually join the department via the excellent MBB PhD program, you can apply here. We also have access to studentships from the BBSRC White Rose Doctoral Training Program and the MRC DiMeN Doctoral Training Partnership - these will be advertised when available.

The University of Sheffield have an incredibly strong and supportive postgraduate community and enjoys support from a number of UK research council funding bodies. Further details on the funding opportunities available at the university are available here. Well qualified and motivated graduates should contact me directly to discuss potential projects and options for funding.

Post-doctoral Research

We welcome applications from talented scientists with diverse research backgrounds. Our multidisciplinary research means we can provide training for researchers with a strong track record who are motivated to gain experience and develop skills in different areas and techniques. There are several possible sources of funding for post-doctoral research, including but not limited to:

•    HFSP Long-Term Fellowships
•    Sir Henry Wellcome Postdoctoral Fellowships
•    Newton International Fellowships
•    EU Marie Curie Fellowships

Most funding sources have deadlines of up to one year in advance of starting the project. Therefore, if you are interested in joining the group as a post-doc, you should contact us at least six months in advance of the planned start date to discuss potential projects and funding opportunities.
