A trip back to Philly

I was really excited to travel back to Philadelphia at the start of November to visit my old friends and colleagues at Penn. The Genetics department kindly awarded me the Kaushal Prize in Genetics for my Postdoctoral work in the Department. It was lovely to meet old friends and familiar faces, and a reminder of how quickly time has passed since starting my group here at Sheffield. It was also great to present my old work again, reminding me how exciting it was before going through the review process! I also took the chance to visit the Biochemistry groupings Friday Research discussion - this always seems like a wonderful format for talking about science and one I'd like to replicate here at Sheffield.

I stayed over a weekend, so was able to wander the city a bit. It's really the best time of year in Philly; warm but not too hot, with the fall leaves at their best. And as an added bonus, the awesome Philadelphia Eagles were in full flight too!
